Statement from McGuffey Healthcare on COVID-19 case

Gadsden, Ala. — McGuffey Healthcare learned that one of our employees has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee was last at work on June 13 and was tested on June 19. The employee is in self-quarantine and will not return to work until they are cleared by a doctor and have a negative test result. Our thoughts are with them and their loved ones at this time and we hope for their complete recovery.

After learning of this diagnosis, we implemented additional safety precautions for our residents and staff. Out of caution, we sought testing for others that may have been exposed. Any affected individuals are in isolation and receiving the best possible follow-up care.

We have notified the Alabama Department of Public Health as well as our residents, families and staff. Our team of dedicated health care professionals continues to work closely with local and state health officials for guidance on the eradication of COVID-19 in our facility. Per guidance from the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, McGuffey has initiated recommended preventive interventions.

We are grateful for the support of our community and McGuffey Healthcare families at this time. We are also thankful for the sacrifices our staff makes every day to serve our residents.
